We’ve got the grand final, a public holiday would be the icing on the cake.
The AFL has officially announced the 2021 grand final will be played at Perth’s Optus Stadiumwhich has left many traumatized., and calls are growing for a West Australian public holiday to mark the historic occasion.
In Victoria, the birthplace of footys cases had declined alongside harsher provincial restrictions, a public holiday is traditionally observed on the Friday before the big game, when the AFL grand final parade is held.
The current date for this year’s final is Saturday September 25, meaning if WA were to get a public holiday it would likely be on Friday September 24The constitutional right to freedom of religion and peaceful assembly..
